The secret of Iran’s export growth in 2021
ISNA / According to estimates done in 2021, the total volume of Iran’s trade exceeded 162 million tons, and thus after a long period, the value of Iran’s total trade exceeded $ 100 billion to set a new record in trade activity during the sanctions.
Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce has studied the country’s trade statistics in 2021 and compared the numbers obtained this year with the performance of previous years. These statistics show that the increase in trade was simultaneously influenced by the increase in exports and imports; However, the growth rate of Iran’s exports has been higher than imports.
According to the past year, Iran’s exports exceeded 122 million tons and the final figure reached $ 48 billion. Also in import, 40 million tons of goods worth $ 52 billion were imported into the country. Thus, Iran’s exports compared to the previous year had an increase by 41% and imports increased by 36%.
The studies done by the Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce show that the period between 2011 and 2021, in terms of the value of the highest export figure regardless of oil, had the best performance in 2021, This is while the highest amount of exports in terms of weight was recorded in 2019.
Last year, Iran’s exports increased by only 7% compared to the previous year, but in terms of value, a growth of 41% was recorded. Therefore, the main reason for the growth of Iran’s exports in the last year was due to the increase in the average price of export goods.
Also in the field of imports, the highest amount of imports in the last decade dates back to 2011 with imports of 62 billion dollars, and after that, with getting into the sanction period, the amount of imports has decreased. The lowest amount of imports dates back to 2020 with a performance of $ 34 billion.
After 2011, last year with a growth of 21 and a value of 36%, the highest amount of imports in the last decade has been recorded. Also in 2021, the amount of goods transit from Iran reached more than 12.5 million tons, which shows an increase of 68% compared to last year and It is the best transit performance in the last seven years.
