Non-oil exports to Iraq reached 8.2 billion dollars

 Seyed Ruhollah Latifi, in a conference on opportunities and strategies for export development to the southern provinces of Iraq, said: “The many commonalities between the governments of Iran and Iraq have caused our non-oil exports to increase from $ 145 million in 2001 to $ 9 billion in 2019.” And again this year the same amount is predictable.

He added: “Our exports in 2001 were approximately 145 million dollars, and in 2005 we saw the first jump with 1 billion and 224 million dollars, and in the following years with a suitable slope reached 2 billion and 762 million dollars, and the second jump in the year, 2009 happened with the export of 4 billion and 560 million dollars.

Latifi said: “The third jump in exports to Iraq, while maintaining the growth path, was in 2012, when our country’s exports reached 6 billion and 337 million dollars, and the last jump was in 2018 with 8 billion and 990 million dollars, which is still In this axis, non-oil exports are taking place.

Regarding imports from Iraq, the customs spokesman said: “The country’s 11-month imports from Iraq have reached 2.2 million tons and are worth more than one billion dollars, in the amount aspect which is more than our country’s imports from Iraq in the last 20 years.” The total import of Iran in the two decades (2000 to 2010) and  (2010 to 2020) was 1 million 312 thousand 894 tons of goods worth 1 billion 333 million 394 thousand 861 dollars.

Latifi emphasized in the end: the implementation of the convention of TIR and total transportation of goods between the two countries, border unit command, professional export, proper packaging, production planning based on target markets, and production of more value-added goods and meeting the country’s needs through Iraq, It can lead to the development of trade between the two countries.

 

In this meeting, the Director-General of the Arab and African Office of the Trade Promotion Organization, the President of the Al-Amara Industries Union, the Vice President of the Basrah Chamber of Commerce, the Consul General of Iran in Basrah, the Secretary General of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce, the Deputy Governor of Khuzestan, the Iranian Business Adviser in Iraq, the merchants and economic agents of the two countries were present.
